Google Chrome Portable

When you open Google.com page right now you will spot the NEW! link below the search text box. That is the link to the new Internet browser from Google, Google Chrome. Its quite many site that talk about this new browser. Since it was made by the market leading search engine company, Google.

If you want to try this new browser, you must download the installer it from the Google Chrome page. It only available on Windows for now, later it will available on Mac and Linux. Its still beta version though. After you download the installer, you can run it and the installer will download the files needed by the browser before it really installed on you computer.

You can look the available feature here and comparison of its speed here. Its been annoying me a bit about the installer which must download the other file before it run. Why don't Google make a single installer which contain all the files needed? I don't understand though.

Maybe you can try the portable version of Google Chrome. A German blogger has made a portable version of Google Chrome that can run from your thumb drive. Its just an early solution to portable version of Google Chrome. Just download it, unzip and run the ChromeLoader.exe then you can run you Google Chrome.

By now, i was wandering to look for a new and nice skin for this blog (since I was lazy for making one). I try to search in BlogSkins.com, but I don't find any skin that I meet my requirements. I like some skin that simple but still but nice.

After google it for a moment, finally I found a site that give very nice and stunning blogger skins. The site is BloggerTricks.com. I almost confuse to decide what skin is the best for my blog. Many of the skin is too good for me. And finally I decided to using a skin that named Graffiti Art.

I like this skin's header art. It was awesome and stunning even for me. I'd like to visit my blog everyday just for see this good art. Thanks to Kranthi (the owner of that site) for providing such a nice skins for us.

There's not only blogger skins available, like its name it provide several tricks on using blogger. Maybe I must explore it for a while to search for a tricks that work on my blog. ^^

Would you like to have a phone like this? I don't. I'm a man, you know. Maybe some girls out there will. This weird phone (or rather I say cute phone) is shown of in Japan by Willcom. According to the news I read, this phone could hold 4 speed dial number, boasts with vibration function, and allows you to receive or terminate calls by pressing its tail.

Hmm, gadget become more and more interesting nowadays. I couldn't imagine what they could make in a few days or months later. Its just amazing to have people with rich imagination like them. That's make world more fun and interesting.

Prisoners Hiding Cellular Phones Within Their Bodies

What a crazy thing to do. From the sweeps that carried out by Pakistan's Prisoners Department with a metal detector they found 30 cell phones had been hidden in the prisoners rectums. 7 of them had been hospitalized to remove the phones from their bodies.

The mobile phones founded when they examined with metal detector during the physical search. The identity of the seven prisoners who had been hospitalized had been placed through the bulletin board and the prisoners have been placed in chakkis (a small cells that a person can only stand or sit) as a punishment.

This kind of phenomena is quite common. But hide phones inside the body is dangerous. Imagine how suffering to have something like cell phones that can't get out of your body. Its really though.

About Installing Windows XP from USB

I'd like to share my experience with installing Windows XP from USB flashdrive. A few days ago I was asked by my uncle to re-install his notebook with Windows XP. His notebook infected by a virus and many of the system files are badly corrupted.

It was easy, I thought. But, the fact is not easier than I think. When I try install with the usual way (with CD ROM), it fail. Its because the DVD drive is not working. It wont running. What's the matter? I try it several times and I get the same results. Later my uncle tell me that the DVD drive might be broken. Why the hell you did not tell me before uncle?

I try to find another way to install then. Suddenly an idea pop up in my mind. Why I don't try with USB flashdrive? Maybe it can be installed with USB flashdrive. I google it for the way. I get a nice one here. There's a complete explanation on how to install Windows XP in Asus EEE PC and should work for another PC.

The explanation is so clear and straight. I don't find any difficulties with the step by step. You should try to read his post if you find a condition that like me.

Japanese Emoticons

Did you familiar with this: :) or this: :( or maybe even this one: :P? These are named smiley or emoticon. Emoticons are some way to express your feeling through a text that shaped like an actual face emotions. Look into this example :), if you bend your neck to the left that text will shaped like a smile face with the colon is the eyes and the closes bracket is the lips.

That way you'll be able to read the western style emoticons. There's many variation of western style emoticons out there but not as much as the Japanese style. Yes, there are some kind of emoticons that are different and has much more variations then the western style. Its called the Japanese emoticons or also known as Kaomoji, since its come from Japan.

This kind of emoticons have a different from how its read. The western style read horizontally from left to right and the Japanese style read vertically from up to down. So basically Japanese emoticons is easier to read than the western style. How exactly we write in Japanese emoticons? Look at this example: (^_^) its the smile version of western style emoticons.

Why does Japanese emoticons has more variations than western one? Maybe its because American alphabet letters in computer is 1 byte and Japanese one is 2 byte, so Japanese has letters can have more characters to add to emoticons. OK, enough with the explanation already, now I'll give you the list of Japanese emoticons that you can use. Enjoy it!

Are Money Really Are This Worthless?

A while ago I read a post from this blog, they list money that they think its worthless because of its value compared US$. At first I almost laugh because the value of 10 million of Zimbabwean dollars is only worth US$4 until I found it that they also included my country, Indonesia.

What the heck? Are money that I use everyday are really that worthless from other people point of view? With Rp. 100,000 I can buy an ordinary meal for 3 days straight. Maybe from now on I should valued more the money that I use. I believe that even the smallest value of the money is valuable to many of us. A million dollars is not a million without 1 cent of dollars. Are you agree?

Bedum is Leaner Than Pisa

As you may know, the Pisa tower on Italy has been famous because of its leaning. Its supposed to be vertical when it built, but its started leaning not long after its construction. But now, Jacob van Dijk, a retired geometrician from Dutch said that Bedum's church tower of Walfridus is leaning than Pisa tower.

He said that at height of 55.85 meters, Pisa tower leaning about 4 meters while Bedum's tower leaning at 2.61 meters with height of 35.7 meters. If the two tower is at the same height, Bedum's tower has more lean at 6 cm.

What do you think? Are now the title of the most leaning tower has moved to Bedum's tower?

Mystery Chinese iPhone Worker

A mysterious Chinese iPhone worker become an Internet star recently. Her photo was found on an iPhone of British customer. Someone with nickname "markm49uk" in MacRumours.com forum quickly posted it. There's three pictures found on the home screen when he activated his iTunes.

He posted on that forum, "Not sure if this is or is not the 'norm' but I just received my brand new iPhone here in the UK and once it had been activated on iTunes I found that the home screen (the screen you can personalize with a photo) already had a photo set against it!!!!"

"It would appear that someone on the production line was having a bit of fun. Has anyone else found this?"

After that post, there's many response comes to that pictures. Many of them speculating about the woman's age, looks and working condition. Some others concerned about that woman might lose her job after this sensational post.

It would be bad if that woman could lose her job because of this accidental incident. But we can rest assured because a Foxconn the Taiwanese company that assembles the iPhones in Shenzhen, China, by their spokesman told that the woman is identified her job is safe. The photo was taken in testing department and only one phone that affected so far.

Sadly there's no detail about that woman would be published. I, and many others, might want to know more about that mysterious woman.

The Smallest Personal Computer

Its the smallest PC I've ever seen in my life. Its a cube with each side measuring is about 2 inches square. Its name is Space Cube. I almost speechless looking on how small this PC is. With a processor that can be clocked up to 250MHz to 300Mhz, 64MB DDr SDRAM, and 1GB compact flash it run a version of RedHat in it.

The two sides of it contain the majority of ports, a single USB port, VGA output to monitor, it even have an ethernet port for you to connect to internet. It will be interesting to have one of it one my house. But unfortunately, its impossible since it will cost around £1,500. Too expensive to me.

Using Opera Portable

Recently I have using this browser quite a while. I like this portable software. Instead of run directly from USB flashdrive like other portable software such as PortableApps (which maybe slow), it just copy the program and other file needed by the program to a temporary directory. When the program exiting, it deletes all files and traces on the local harddrive and save our personal settings, cookies, etc to a single file on the USB flashdrive. The more interesting is you can create different profile for your settings.

Here the list of the features:

No registry entries are created or modified
No effect to existing installed browsers, either IE, Firefox or Opera
No trace left after exiting - files are overwritten, not just deleted
Doesn't make your USB drive tired - all code and data are stored in a temporary place on host computer
Create multiple profiles for different places

Detect Invisible Users On Yahoo! Messenger

When you using a Yahoo! Messenger you can see if someone is online or offline by their status on the friends list. If the status is grey it mean someone is offline, but sometimes its not actually offline. Maybe someone use the invisible feature to hide their self from you. If that so, how you can know if he/she offline or not?

New Species of Insect Found On eBay

Something interesting found on eBay by a vice-president of UK's Royal Entomological Society, Dr Richard Harrington. That was a new discovered species of an ancient insect. That insect's fossil was bought for a £20 from a seller in Lithuania.

Dr Harrington later sent it to an aphid expert in Denmark to confirm if that was really a new extinct species. Dr Harrington wanted to named it Mindarus ebay since it found on eBay. But then the species named Mindarus harringtoni, just like the name of the scientist.

For those who doesn't know Indosiar, it is one of the commercial television station in Indonesia. In the video above is one their infotainment show, KISS (Kisah Seputar Selebriti) or in English its mean "Story About Celebrity". If you see closely at minute 4:09 (the video says so), you will see strange and creepy woman stand behind the others.

What was that thing? It is really a ghost? Well, frankly I really don't know. But its really creeps me out. Are you believe in ghost?

Korn Feat Nidji

Korn or should I write KoЯn was a famous band from California. They have many fans all over the world. I don't know much about Korn since I don't really like loud kind of music. Meanwhile Nidji was an Indonesian band with a large amount of fans in Indonesia. Their song is good and they also released an English album, not so many Indonesian band make an English album nowadays.

And now they, Korn and Nidji, have a colaboration together. In one of Korn concert, they are playing one of the most popular Nidji's song, Hapus Aku. Did you believe this? Watch it with your own eyes in this video.

Hahaha, it was a joke of course. Someone use one of the Korn concert video and insert a Nidji's song on it. Something I can't think of is how come he could make that video so matched with the song. As you can see there the move of the drummer, guitarist, and also the vocalist match very good with the song. Such a very creative guy he is.

I'm Tricked

Plain White T's is the most favorite band of mine. I love their song very much, even though I just know them for a few month. And the latest news from them is they will release a new album in September, if don't wrong. I can't wait until that, so I decided to search their song on the net, who knows if someone has already share it.

Its not make a long time and I got one torrent file for their new album. What a big discovery. I was so enthusiast to download it. After a while, its finished (it took an hour to finished). With such a happy face I immediately play it on my favorite music player. But what I get? The file wont play. What's the matter?

The files come with a readme that I haven't noticed it before. When I read it, it says that the files is actually a zip file with a password to open it. Hmm, there must be the password somewhere in this readme file. But I don't find it. What I found is an instructions to get the password on some site. It says that I must sign-up to that site and in the next page there will be the password. A thirteen letters password which a part of five words.

Ok, now I get it. What I have to do is visit the site, sign-up and get the password. But, I don't think that the site is not available in my country. Yes, that is, this site's offer only available for US residents. What the heck is this? If I cannot access the site, its mean I cannot get the password. So I just waste a bandwith for download something unusable. Its also worthless to try such a zip cracker software since the password is too long. I actually tried it though and the software show the time remaining is more than a century!

I must wait for other kind people who kindly share their album without password or something difficult like it.

Can't Download Adobe Flash Player?

I'm confused right now. The computer I use right now doesn't have an Adobe Flash Player installed, so I decided to download and install it. Usually in Firefox if you have a site that require a plugin like Adobe Flash Player, Firefox will offer to download and install it. So, I follow the wizard to install the plugin but nothing happen. I try to download an Adobe Flash Player from Adobe site but its fail. What's wrong with Adobe site?

Maybe its server is down or they give some maintenance to their server. If that so, I'll try to download it on the other site. But what I get is the other site also refer to Adobe download page which I cannot access right now. What am I supposed to do? I want to watch a video on YouTube, but now I must hold it for this time.

*Sigh*

Obama Send SMS to 2.9 Million US Resident

What a huge number to count. 2.9 million people received an SMS from a new candidate for US president Barack Obama. What he sent to that many people is an announcement of his chosen vice president. I don't know if there is another people who can send SMS as much as him.

For this kind of thing he spend a USD290,000. Another huge number to count. I just can say "wow" to him. If I am an US resident maybe I'll vote for him so he can be a president. But, since I am live so far from him, I just can hope he will win.

My Friend's Friendster Profile Get Banned

Friendster was such a famous social networking site in Indonesia, maybe its the most famous of all. Every internet user in Indonesia know Friendster and maybe have an account in it. And now my friend's Friendster profile get banned by Friendster management. How come?

Yesterday when I visited his profile page, I saw a warning like this:
"This user's profile is not available."
This mean his account has been banned by Friendster. The reason for Friendster to do something terrible like that is maybe because of my friend's act something that bothering others Friendster user. Yes, he use a bug that found in Friendster, if you put something like this in other people profile, you can redirect his profile page to any page you want.

Its a simple html syntax that redirect the current page to somesite.com. That code supposed to be placed on the head section of html, but in Friendster you can place it in a comment section of the profile. What a quite bothering bug. And my friend use it to promote his profile to other people. He redirect many people profile to his profile page. Not just that, he is not just redirect other people profile, he also redirect a fans profile (go to Friendster help page if you don't know this term).

What a crazy things to do, he was waste a hardwork to get as many friend (he has a more than a thousand friends) and its all gone now.
